We're proud to share that Kenfield features in the latest edition of The Grocer, the UK's leading publication for the food and grocery industry.
The feature, Opening doors: delivering safety, sustainability and savings for UK supermarkets, looks at how something as everyday as a store door can make a real difference to a retailer's energy bills, staff safety and day-to-day efficiency. It's a subject close to our hearts, and one we've spent years designing around.
For a long time, doors were something shoppers and staff walked through without a second thought. That's changing. Retailers are now looking hard at their shop-floor infrastructure as they chase energy savings and carbon reduction targets.
The article explores a familiar problem in busy stores: heavy, conventional doors that get propped open or left ajar so staff can keep up with the workload. Every minute a cold room door stands open, cold air escapes and refrigeration has to work harder to compensate. Well-designed, high-spec doors tackle that problem at the source, while also supporting better hygiene and a safer working environment.
The feature highlights our K750 flip-flap cold room door. Its flexible, self-returning panels let staff move through in either direction without stopping to open or close anything, so there's no reason to prop the main door open. The result is more consistent temperatures and less wasted energy.
The K750 is already trusted by retailers around the world, including the Massy Group in the Caribbean, where it's their door of choice.
The article also covers our newest door, the K150. When developing its hinge, our team researched the precise opening force, measured in newtons, needed to push it open. The aim was simple: reduce the risk of strain injuries for the people using it dozens of times a shift.
It's a good example of how we approach every product. We keep developing our range around what retailers and their teams actually need on the shop floor.
